The place of Hungary in East-European system transformations of the twentieth century

Abstract

During the twentieth century Hungary experienced several radical changes of political systems and transformations of socio-political system. Since 1948 the Soviet type system was established in Hungary and it existed there until 1988. The disappearance of the Soviet Union resulted in «Eastern bloc» crisis and its final collapse. The course of events induced Hungary, together with Poland and Czechoslovakia, to change geopolitical orientation and «return» to Europe.
