The development of the Belarusian economy in the years of independence was rather contradictory. In general, the Republic has achieved serious progress during this period: one can see the significant growth of major economic indicators, the increased living standards of the population, active development of foreign economic relations. However, a number of serious problems, greatly aggravated in recent years in the economy of Belarus are obvious; the failure to settle these problems put the implementation of economic problems planned be the Belarus administration into question.
