Analyzing the trends of social development in the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe, the article pays special attention to the reduction of poverty and social exclusion zones. Based on Eurostat data, the paper attempts to assess the proportion of population living in the conditions of severe poverty and social
exclusions as well as identify the most vulnerable households and population groups in the individual countries of the region.
