At the beginning of the 2010s, China encountered some very serious
challenges. Its economic development slowed down, while the social costs of the «Chinese miracle» came to the surface. The potential for fast growth of the country dried up. The new leadership of the CCP, with Xi at the helm, designed a new
reform course. As the article describes, the main stress was laid on foreign political and economic activities that could strengthen China’s position as a world power.
