The article describes the words-concepts «revolution» and «revolt», the
history of these ideological concepts and their use in European and Russian traditions. It is important that in Russia of the 19th – 20th centuries the words were used as synonymous; even Lenin used them as they were of a single value. Now, however, they have different meaning: «revolution» is evaluated positively and «revolt» – negatively.
