The Spanish Right about the Revolution in Russia

Tereshchuk A.A.

Abstract

The article analyzes opinions of five prominent Spanish political and intellectual leaders (R. de Maeztu, J.A. Primo de Rivera, J.M. Fontana, M. de Unamuno, P. Baroja) about the Russian revolution of 1917 and the Soviet state. What was common for them all was their negative attitude towards the Spanish Republic and neutral or positive stance towards the National Movement. The aforementioned thinkers criticized the Russian revolution and were afraid of a possible development of a similar situation in Spain. The study of the opinions of the partisans of the political right in Spain about the revolution in Russia plays an important role in describing the ideology of F. Franco´s regime.
