The article explores the reasons for emergence as well as perspectives of development of a new dimension in social-human sciences – i.e. Russian studies. It provides a framework in which Russia is analyzed as a specific type of sociohistorical entity in an attempt to avoid any disciplinary limitations in research process. It suggests a move away from centricity of historical, political or any other nature. «Russian centricity» is proposed instead. The article also gives an overview of a number of research studies produced by the Institute’s of Scientific Information for Social Sciences Russian Studies Centre, which was created in 2008. An edition titled «Works on the Russian studies» is published from 2009 onwards.
