Abstract

This review offers an analysis of the monograph «Hidden Ambitions: What the Great Powers Are Preparing» by French geopolitics specialist T. Gomart. The monograph primarily explores the competition among major powers on the international stage, within the context of the «geopolitical shock» triggered by the escalating crisis in Ukraine. The reviewer acknowledges the depth of Gomart’s analytical work and the realistic nature of his depiction. A notable aspect is Gomart’s classification of the major powers into «land» (continental states), «sea» (maritime states), and «sky» (states using religious factors for influence). The monograph is rich in factual content, though it is critiqued for its lack of alternative viewpoints, relying solely on established Western stereotypes.
