Abstract

The development of domestic philosophical and legal ideas in the context of the transformation of the modern world order and the breakdown of the existing international legal order is directed towards the systematic construction of accumulated experience and the generalization of conceptual provisions characteristic of law as a special civilized method of social regulation. One of the trends in this development is the emergence of interesting scientific works in the field of philosophy of law, focused on the national Russian legal identity. In this regard, the attention of potential readers is presented to the author’s arguments about the concepts of goodness and justice, theoretically generalized in the recent monograph by A.I. Bastrykin, R.F. Ismagilov and V.P. Salnikov «The Idea of Good in the Works of F.M. Dostoevsky and Her influence on the development of philosophy of law (published for the 200th anniversary of F. M. Dostoevsky) / Introductory speech by Professor A. Alexandrov. 2nd edition, corrected, supplemented; Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. St. Petersburg: University Foundation, 2023. 456 pp.». The authors of the review note that theoretical research and empirical-practical assessment of the socio-historical significance of F. M. Dostoevsky’s ideas for philosophical and legal science and practice today look more relevant than ever, especially taking into account the fact that recently there has been a tendency in domestic legislation to become ideas of the Russian intelligentsia, protection of cultural heritage, protection of traditional spiritual and moral values and personal meanings. Based on the results of the review, it can be confidently stated that the monograph «The Idea of Good in the Works of F. M. Dostoevsky and Its Influence on the Development of Philosophy of Law (on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of F. M. Dostoevsky)» is an example of a successful philosophical and legal conceptualization of the ideas of an outstanding representative of the Russian intelligentsia. Also in the publication under review there is a sharp author’s social analysis, new ideas are put forward on the basis of the well-known original methodology available in the book, and, despite the deep theoretical elaboration of the issues under consideration, an invitation to the scientific community for a new discussion and principled discussion, as the legacy of Fyodor Mikhailovich, and eternal questions for domestic philosophical and legal thought.
