Abstract

Digital technologies are currently being actively implemented in environmental law to expedite and simplify procedures for providing information on the state of the environment, environmental monitoring, forecasting, and related activities, and are also used to create an effective environmental and economic mechanism for rational natural resource management. This review of the monograph «Digitalization of State Environmental Governance: Legal Foundations» analyzes the author’s contribution to the science of environmental law and the development of the institution of environmental management. N.M. Zaslavskaya’s monograph, selected for review, proposes a scientific concept for the legal regulation of state environmental management, assesses its current state, and defines a system of views on the concepts, goals, principles, and tools for its organization, as well as the procedure for its implementation. It is noted that the work under review provides an in-depth and comprehensive analysis of the application and development of a risk-based approach in state environmental management and formulates the author’s positions on digitalization in environmental law. Currently, issues of digitalization in the state environmental management system remain under-researched.
