Global Transformations of the World Order: Challenges of Economics and Governance in a Changing World

Molchanova N.P., Gvozdanny V.A.

Abstract

The global economic space is operating under the influence of rapidly evolving transformation processes associated with the transition from a unipolar model to a multipolar world order. The fragmentation of the global order is complicating productive interstate interaction, negatively impacting global trade and the overall dynamics of international relations. The urgency of global challenges is growing – from poverty eradication and food security to energy transition and water conservation. Addressing these challenges requires the creation and effective functioning of global governance institutions capable of coordinating the efforts of states, international organizations, and expert communities. Drawing on the proceedings of the research and teaching staff section “Global Transformations of the World Order and Problems of Economics and Management in a Changing World” at the VIII International Scientific Congress “Global Studies 2025: The UN and Global Transformations of International Relations: Multipolarity, Stability, and Security”, this article analyzes key contemporary challenges: the transformation of regional and global governance institutions, the role of artificial intelligence and digital currencies, energy security, and geopolitical conflicts. Particular attention is paid to Russia’s participation in the formation of a new world order, the development of BRICS, the SCO, and other integration associations, as well as the need to preserve historical memory as a strategic resource for national security.
