Abstract

The authors of this review set out to examine the monograph by E.Ya. Vittenberg and E.I. Pivovar, Cooperation between Russian Business and the Business of Post‑Soviet Countries, and to analyze its significance within the framework of incomplete economic integration along the Russia–CIS line. This large-scale study by RGSU researchers Evgeny Vittenberg and Efim Pivovar is devoted to a problem that many domestic politicians, analysts, and ordinary citizens consider key to Russia’s future: the cooperation of entrepreneurs from post-Soviet countries as a factor in preserving and maintaining interstate relations. The monograph collects and critically analyzes extensive empirical material on the multidimensional cooperation of Russian business with the businesses of post-Soviet states. Considerable attention is paid to the difficulties facing such cooperation among entrepreneurs, arising from the geopolitical situation, the challenges of forming a multipolar world, sanctions pressure, differences in legislation, shortcomings of the business climate, and corruption.
