The Interaction of the RF and FRG in Regulating Armed Conflicts, 2005–2009

Trunov Ph.O.

Abstract

Military cooperation of Germany and the Russian Federation in the middle of the 2000-s underwent certain changes. The interaction of armed forces and foreign policy departments of both countries gained strength during the period when the «red-green» government of G. Schröder was in power. After parliamentary elections of 2005 in Germany the party block of CDU-CSU began to play the defining role in the new cabinet. Accordingly the interaction of Germany and Russia in solving armed conflicts changed. Events in Kosovo, as well as the Georgian-Abkhazian and Georgian-Ossetian conflicts of 2008 have led to deepening contradictions between Germany and the Russian Federation therefore their military interaction was minimized.
