In the modern interdependent world with its global challenges and threats
cooperation becomes the only possible strategy of relations. There is no any alternative. The definite practical and scientific task is to search for the forms of such cooperation. The author of this article offers the unusual project of cooperation
of Russia and the European Union within the Baltic region. The «old» experience seems to be relevant in new historical conditions: mutually beneficial interaction
of the European and Russian cities as the Hanseatic Union.
