The article is devoted to the study of the traditional and the new in modern marriage and rituals of the life cycle of Russians living in the cities of Dagestan. It is based on field ethnographic material collected in July 2023 in the Dagestan cities of the original compact and dispersed residence of the Russian population – Kizlyar, Makhachkala, Kaspiysk and Derbent – in the ethno-contact zones of contact and interaction between Russians and the mountain and Turkic population of Dagestan, etc. Introduced in scientific circulation for the first time is data on marriage, wedding, maternity and funeral rites of the Russian urban population of Dagestan, their transformation in modern times, accompanied by the identification of the traditional layer and the customs that appeared under the influence of globalization and socio-cultural processes of the late 20th – first quarter of the 21st century, as well as the influence of the Christian religion and the foreign ethnic influence of Muslim Dagestanis. The article presentes the results of using historicalcomparative, retrospective and ethnological research methods. The authors come to the conclusion that modern marriage and family rituals of the Russian population of the cities of Dagestan represent a complex set of life cycle rituals that preserve their ethnic, religious and cultural identity, but have undergone a certain transformation under the influence of globalization, sociocultural processes, Christian religion and foreign ethnic environment.
