Abstract

In present geopolitical conditions, interest in cooperation with African countries has received new impacts, and most developed countries are actively trying to define their position on the continent. The export of national education and the development of humanitarian contacts is an important element of cooperation. Educational contacts today take on new forms and use various tools for organizing work. In this regard, to increase the efficiency of realizing Russia’s export potential, it is important to have a holistic picture of the efforts being made by different countries to promote their languages and education on the African continent. The aim of the work is a comprehensive study of the available resources, potential and opportunities for the promotion of the Russian language and Russian education in Africa. The study covers 13 countries of the African continent, which are characterized as friendly or neutral, and with which the Russian Federation is actively establishing economic and humanitarian contacts. As a result of the study, the most promising areas and forms of interaction between Russia and each country for the promotion of the Russian language and education are evaluated, based on its specific characteristics and needs, as well as Russia’s interests in this country. The competitive environment in the context of the promotion of Russian education, including foreign programs and initiatives implemented by different countries in the field of education, is analyzed. Based on the results of the study, measures were proposed to increase the effectiveness of promoting Russian education in Africa. The data obtained show that Russia currently needs to strengthen the measures taken to promote Russian education in Africa. The variability of programs and their focus on the needs and specific characteristics of each country will make it possible to strengthen Russia’s position on the continent, successfully compete with other countries and establish humanitarian interaction in the interests of peace and cooperation.
